NLP Programme

NEURO LINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING

Historic Background

Neuro Linguistic Programing is a term coined by John Grinder and Richard Bandller, who co-created this concept in the year 1970.

Initially during the 1980s and the 90s, Sales Executives were being trained in NLP in order to get better sales through its persuasion technique. Later on, researchers designed these techniques as therapeutic intervention for the benefit of every individual.

Definition

The term consists of three parts, “Neuro”, “Linguistic”, and “Programming”; each of which have their own, vivid definition which goes as follows:

Neuro: Refers to the Mental and Emotional Processing of the human mind;

Linguistic: Focuses on “How we use language” to course through our day to day activities;

Programming: Elaborates on how we create, establish, break and re-create the procedures that we follow in order to accomplish these daily activities.

Therefore, we can say that Neuro ‘Linguistic Programming is a pseudoscientific technique that works towards creating mental and emotional procedures for our daily activities with the help of the language of our nervous system.

The co-creators of NLP originally defined NLP as follows:

In the words of Richard Bandler, “NLP is an attitude which is an insatiable curiosity about human beings with a methodology that leaves behind it a trail of techniques.

And John Grinder states that, “The strategies, tools and techniques of NLP represent an opportunity unlike any other for the exploration of human functioning, or more precisely, that rare and valuable subset of human functioning known as genius. “
